President Obama Comments On College Affordability [FULL TEXT]

“President Obama has commented publicly on college affordability, noting that college attendance has never been more important for US citizens, as those with a college degree earn twice as much on average as those without a high school diploma and have half the unemployment rate. The President clarified that he was talking about college in its broader sense, including community college and technical programs, and that the important thing was that people have access to something beyond high school.

The rub is that college affordability is at an all-time low point just as people need it most. Obama cited the statistic than an average student graduates with $26,000 debt from their student loans and that Americans as a group now owe more in student loans than they carry on their credit cards.”
