Top 5 Ways Schools Can Take Advantage of Quora

“For those who are unfamiliar, Quora is a social networking site that allows you to ask any question you wish and then receive answers from other Quora users. There are many different layers to the website:

  • Profiles – You are able to see who answered your question and actually click on that person’s personalized profile to see his/her background. This will help you decide whether or not you want to trust that answer.
  • Relevancy – Others can vote on the relevancy of answers, which helps keep the best answers at the top of the screen.
  • Variety – When you type in a question, other related questions will pop up. This helps to ensure that the networking site is not full of repetitive information.
  • Following – You can follow people, topics, and questions. This works well for companies hoping to follow a certain industry. For example, if I work in the SEO industry I may want to see any and all questions that pop up about that topic. This will allow me to stay in the loop and keep up with the latest news and queries.
  • Answering – Answering questions is easy and will help you show your knowledge and form connections with people who are interested in your area of expertise.

The social networking site was co-created by the former CTO of Facebook, Adam D’Angelo. He quit his job at Facebook to make this website happen, but it doesn’t seem as though Facebook’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, is too upset. Zuckerberg (along with other major industry leaders and celebrities), is an active member of Quora.”
